Thanks to the hard work of the US2 Safety Coalition, Monroe will recieve a visit from the Governor tomorrow.

Our lack of political clout has really hurt Monroe while other communities with fewer traffic problems and safety concerns got all the state and federal transportation dollars.

But that is changing in Monroe. Over the last several years, we have worked very hard at making our traffic woes a top priority for our legislators. This visit from the Governor is a good sign that some progress is being made.

What would I like to see come out of this visit from the Governor? Quite simply I want to see US2, and SR522 high on the priority list in the Governor’s next transporation budget. With three state highways that all intersect in Monroe, and with as many deaths as we have experienced in the last few years it’s about time the Governor and our legislators took some action.
